How to Attract Millennials to Your Trade Show Booth

The Garden Media team attended IGC East earlier this month, and with half of the team being Millennials, we looked at the show with a different perspective. We definitely ran into certain booths that caught our attention.

Many companies are shifting their focus onto the new garden consumer: Millennials, and with good reason. Millennials make up nearly 
25 percent of the US population and are the most influential consumers.

One trait of Millennials is that we love to be engaged - not of the marrying kind, not yet - but of the stimulant kind. Give us something to do or something to watch. And be approachable... without being creepy. Be nice, be calm and be welcoming.

Speaker Series: Lauren Grow Thrives in Leadership Roles

We sat down with Lauren Grow for this week’s speaker seriesLauren is a junior at West Chester University. She majors in communication studies and political science.

Describing Lauren as busy is an understatement. In addition to her role as Garden Media's Intern, she’s served as the president of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) for the last two years and is an member of Lambda Pi Eta, the National Communications Honor Society. She is also an executive board member of her sorority, Alpha Delta Pi, and was elected to the governing body of Greek life on campus.

True to her name “Grow,” Lauren also gardens in her free time.

Snapchat Revolutionizing Branding for Garden Industry

Since 2011, Snapchat, an app that allows users to take ‘self-destructing’ pictures, has taken social media by storm.

The innovative app has a rumored 100 million active monthly users making it competitive with Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.  

PR teams behind events like the Superbowl and the Oscars, as well as various brands and news outlets have developed strategies and campaigns to appeal to Millennials - those that use Snapchat religiously.

In addition to promoting events, Snapchat has included a “Discovery” page featuring news, trending topics and entertainment features.  

Snapchat presents a huge opportunity for garden brands, as Millennials become a target consumer.
