Across the world, different countries are blending their regional culture and personal style with local gardening habits to put a spin on gardening.

Just as Paris and Milan "Fashion Week" defines trends globally, there are three international garden shows that shape garden, home, and lifestyle trends.

It is at these shows that the trends Garden Media predicts for 2014 begin to form. From here, landscape designers, artists, and breeders all find inspiration and make it their own.

Read on to discover the 3 international shows that influence Garden Trends the most each year.

The Chelsea Flower Show

The Chelsea Flower Show has become synonymous with garden trends over the years, since 1862 in fact. This is the garden design equivalent of Paris Fashion Week.

Formerly Britain's largest flower show, the Chelsea is still the most prestigious by far. Heck, the Royal Family even attends each year!

From the beginning, the Chelsea Flower Show has contained both nursery exhibits and model gardens. And, every year there have been British and foreign exhibitors. Last year, there were 550 exhibitors!

Writers from around the world congregate in London to cover the trends at the Chelsea Flower Show, and it is here that the trends first emerge. This year, Garden Media spotted several trends that were born at the Chelsea Flower Show (Frac'd Up, White Flowers, and Insect Shelters). From here, these trends continue to grow, and in 2014, they're going to explode on the scene!

The upcoming Chelsea Flower Show will be held May 20th-May 24th.  Annually, the shows is attended by 157,000 visitors. And, the number is limited by the capacity of the 11-acre ground. So, if you and your garden brand want to make it, you better pre-register quickly!

Jardins Jardin

Paris did not want to miss the boat on garden trends, so they came up with their own equivalent to the Chelsea Flower Show: Jardins Jardin.

The show takes place the weekend after the Chelsea Flower show, so garden trend spotters from across the pond can hit both shows in one trip. The 2014 show will be Friday, June 6th to Monday, June 9th.

To compare, the show attracts 20,000 visitors annually and has been running for 10 years.

At Jardins Jardin, you'll find roughly 20 gardens, trade stands, nurseries and the “village of outdoor design”. The designers are truly innovators; they push the envelope to create art that functions in the garden.

Designers here have a mere 5 days as opposed to 3 weeks to create their stunning visonary works.

From the landscape designers to the outdoor living products, everyone at Jardins Jardin is rethinking the garden.

They're the extraordinary stand-outs, and they set many design trends.

Floriade

The Floriade is the coveted show for garden trend spotters. Why?

Well, it only happens once every ten years in Holland. So, go ahead, and mark your calendars for 2022.

The Floriade began in 1960 and is known as the Dutch extravaganza. The location changes each decade to keep garden lovers on their toes!

In a nutshell, the Floriade is the Netherland's time to shine in the green and gardening world. The Floriade show creates "an extraordinary park in which the Dutch horticulture industry presents its latest trends and developments to the rest of the world."
