Social media is an ever-evolving (and increasingly important) medium! LinkedIn changed their pages a few weeks back and now, Twitter’s spicing their platform up a bit.  Below, we’ll fill you in on how to use and master the new profile all while creating a cohesive message.

Before we go any further, here’s what the new profile looks like. The new layout is designed to work better on mobile devices, like your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. The biggest change is clearly the new cover photo; sound familiar? Just a few months ago Facebook added a cover photo to their profiles, and now, Twitter is following suit.

Here are some tips to make your garden industry twitter handle more friendly:

1. Upload a Cover Photo

Jump on the bandwagon! You want to make sure your business is at the forefront of change. Uploading a cover photo is your opportunity to show that you keep up with (and embrace!) new forms of communication. Plus, the photo is HUGE! We’re talking dimensions of 1252×626! Take hold of this opportunity to showcase a beautiful image that truly captures your garden company’s culture. Need a bit more help uploading a cover photo? Get help here!

2. Create a Coherent Brand

With the cover photo, there are now three photos hosted on Twitter profiles: a profile picture, a cover photo, and a background image. The background image will now only appear on twitter.com, not the mobile sites. Be sure your cover photo and profile picture create a strong message as a pair while still working flawlessly together as a trio. Additionally, make sure the colors, fonts, and themes are coherent in each image. Stay away from adding too many different elements. Simplicity and cohesion is truly beautiful—on any device!

3. Update the Photo Stream

On mobile devices, the photo stream will appear right below your most recent tweet. Users will effortlessly be able to swipe through your wide array of photos. As your photos will be much easier to access and more prominent, many more eyes will see them! As such, a fall cleaning is needed for your photos! Go through all of the pictures on your Twitter and ensure that all of the images reflect your established cohesive message.
